Why is Windows XP working so well? Rock solid with SP0, SP1, SP2 and SP3 and all good old drivers working. I was hoping for this W7 RC1 to work, but it's not good for realtime audio. It's useless as a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) right now, sadly. I think this has something to do with CPU scaling / utilization in Vista and Windows 7. Now you are encountering hefty stuttering and audio dropouts in 6ms of ASIO latency, or on even higher latencies! And this is not happening in Windows XP! And this is with the same project! I want this setup to work, or I have to, when the support of XP (32bit) ends.

(2) Install Cubase 5 (32 or 64 bit) (3) Install UAD-2 Plugins (4) Load up a project with a large ammount of UAD plugins, lets say 95% load of the UAD2 Quad card. Let's get serious: (1) Install Windows 7 RC1 (64bit), Or Vista 64, 32 bit. (Same to the Cubase 4 Version) This is NOT working rock solid! Trust me, nevertheless the Vista 64bit.

There is still no way I can get the VG99 USB driver working properly though. W7 moaned about 'This program may not have installed properly etc' but it seems OK. So far I've had no luck with SE3 (in Vista I had to resort to 'compatibilty' which worked'), or (and for me this is a biggy) the Roland VG99 usb driver, which installs via compatability but offers no ASIO driver, buffer size etc, just as a plain audio device.įinally got SE3 to install after copying the CD to a folder and going back to the original dongle drivers. However, that version is about 5 years old and I need to install the latest Cubase 4.0 version.I have tried to change the compatibility settings, but none of the alternatives work.Any thoughts or suggestions about this.Barry. The disks install fine in Vista, but when I attempt to install in Windows 7, I get the onscreen message 'this version of Cubase is for Windows XP or Higher'. However, I am unable to use the Steinberg Cubase 4.0 installation disks to install Cubase 4.0.
HiI am have installed Windows 7 on a spare hard disc in my PC and am able to install software ok.
